Day 1 - An Introduction to Esalen® Massage & The Art of Essential Touch
Friday & Saturday evenings: January 21, 2011 • Seeking Indigo, Charleston, SC
Esalen® Massage is a healing art form, evolved over forty-five years at the Esalen® baths.Influenced by the rhythms of the Pacific, this form of touch engages all the senses and offers deep release and relaxation to both giver and receiver. This workshop invites participants to explore the world of essential touch through the gentle guidance of teachers with many years of experience. We will offer the basic principles of our work: grounding and centering, moving from the core, quality of touch, and using breath to bridge the connection between giver and receiver. One of the key elements of this art form is tapping into the flowing, creative energy present in a living body and letting one's massage style emerge from that experience. We will include techniques, especially the Esalen® signature moves, along with deeper work.
This one day program is open to beginners and experienced body workers interested in learning new and creative approaches to massage.
CEUs available for NCBTMB practitioners, and those in the Esalen® 500 hour program.
Day 2 - The Sensuous Realm: Esalen® Massage, Essential Touch & the Energetic Scents & Sounds of the Chakras
Sunday, January 22, 20111 • Seeking Indigo, Charleston, SC
I invite you to join me for a full day of immersion into your senses. Surrender to the healing art forms of Esalen® Massage, aromatherapy, sound & song by joining Ellen for a complete immersion into the tangible alchemy of sensuous energy.
This one day program is designed for people interested in the Healing Arts, wanting to combine massage & bodywork with sound & energy work. Ellen will focus on Long Strokes and Side Lying Massage. A long time student of sound and song healing, Ellen will introduce us to the sounds and songs of the charkas.
While it is helpful to have professional training and experience in touching people, it is not mandatory. If a beginner, we recommend that you come with a friend or family member, who will enjoy sharing this highly experiential educational program with you.
CEUs available for NCBTMB practitioners.
Day 3 - Dancing With & On The Body: Essential Touch, Esalen® Massage & Moving The Body on The Table
Monday, January 24, 2011 • Seeking Indigo, Charleston, S.C.
“Set the body in motion, and it will heal itself.” Gabrielle Roth, creator of The 5Rhythms
One of the seven essential elements of Esalen® Massage & Essential Touch is moving the body on the table. One of the essential tools of self care is moving ones energy and using good body mechanics while giving a massage.
In this workshop Ellen will focus on how to embody The 5Rhythms while practicing, and to use the rhythms of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness with our clients. Learning to move energy in these distinctive patterns supports our clients deepening their breath, increasing their auric fields, and feeling more deeply connected to the lightness of their beings. Our clients report experiencing having been danced with on the table.
Ellen will include ways of working with the sheet and drape that allow you to move and turn your client without asking them to help you.
CEU credits for bodyworkers with NTCMB, EMBA and Yoga Alliance.
